Are you a webmaster or an owner of a website? Or multiple sites? Every considered using them to take part in affiliate marketing programs to earn an extra buck? Participating in affiliate programs found on the internet has what people been doing to earn money online for quite some time now. Some have proven to be so successful it has literally been life-changing for them. For the better of course. Every webmaster or web site owner loves incoming traffic to their site right? What I’m trying to say is that why not make an extra income off of it? You’ll definitely be glad you did.

Which Affiliate Program then?

There are plenty of affiliate programs to choose from out there (as you may have already known or guessed). So entirely in your control to choose the affiliate program of your liking. Naturally people tend to select the affiliate programs which has the highest pay out. I have to agree that theoretically the idea is good, but practically it might not be such a good one. The reason is that a big bunch of people are thinking and doing the same exact thing, therefore you’ll only have more competitors to fight off. More competitors only diminishes your chance of success. Unless you’ve already been joining affiliate programs for a long time and you KNOW what you’re doing, then that’s a different story.

If you’re new to all of this, you usually won’t have a fighting chance. Don’t get me wrong here, I’m not trying to discourage you. My point is, try to find the affiliate programs that are smaller and start off from there. You’ll learn faster and once you’re doing better, you can finally join the big boys arena. It’s better to have sales which have a smaller payout compared to not selling a single thing with a biggest payout. Get the picture?

Ok, to help you narrow down your mountain of affiliate program choices out there, here’s a small checklist to help you get started :

• Try to look for affiliate programs that pays at least a 25% commission rate. Too low and you’re just wasting your time.
• When you’re satisfied with the payment rate, thoroughly discuss on how will you be paid and the method of payment to be used. Don’t get caught without an account that they can transfer your earnings into.
• Try to find out if the affiliate program that interests you have good support such as providing tools to help you track the progress of your sales.
• Good affiliate programs also offers you resources such as advertising banners, buttons, graphics, texts and more.

Now all you have to do is to refer customers to the merchant’s website and you will be rewarded with a very generous commission for each succesful sale that is made.

Thanks to the internet, it has opened a whole new door for entrepreneurs. And with the ever-growing popularity of the internet, more and more people are getting connected each passing day, this only means that your customer base will only get BIGGER and there’s no sign of it stopping anytime soon.

The worldwide market is undoubtedly getting more and more crowded. Even the virtual world, where we have come to known as the Internet does not escape this reality. So what is one to do in order not to be left out, drowned out or even overwhelmed by this surge? It’s simple really, you basically have to be the loudest person in the crowd in order to stick out like a sore thumb.

The saturated market is commonly viewed as a disadvantage. But try to look at it at a different perspective and you can see there actually is a good in all of it. The good that can ESPECIALLY work in YOUR favour.

Bear with me, and I’ll get to the point.

It’s time to BE unique and GET noticed.

You see, with more products and services being offered virtually every corner of the internet, everyone is trying to outsell,outpace,outgrow the guy next to him (a.k.a the competition). In order to be more efficient to do those stuff, individuals or companies adopt hard sell marketing techniques and strategies in order to be more efficient. The customers who are hit hardest by this form of sell tactics will eventually become immune to all of this and the tactics lose momentum and thus the effect.

What works well in all of this, is the humble sales letter. Humble yet powerful, a sales letter can be very personal therefore giving a sense of importance and priority to the customer, therefore  showing that there is someone out there who actually cares for the customers wants and needs. Nothing makes a customer feel special like a personalized sales letter.

But before you fire up your spreadsheet and start typing away blindly at the keyboard hoping to produce the next killer sales letter, keep in mind that composing a sales letter is no easy task. Especially when it comes to writing a good one. Come up with a bad sales letter and it gives out all the wrong impression of you and your reputation as a professional will suffer and that’s the last thing you’ll ever want happening to your online business.

Some guidelines

What I’m going to offer you is no magic formula when it comes to sales letter creation, but it is certainly wise to adhere to the basics of making a good sales letter which is listed out below.

Read ME! – For a sales letter to be read, it has to be opened first. Be it e-mail or snail mail, by creating an enticing headline that basically screams “OPEN ME!” and getting the customer to do so, you are already half way there. Titles such as “Great DISCOUNTS on your next purchase” or “HOW to save up to hundreds like I did!” are always winners. Keep the jokes and the play of words to a minimum. You don’t want the customer to have the wrong impression of you. As the saying goes “First impressions are always the most important”

Personal – Addressing the sales letter recipient is always an excellent idea. And there’s nothing better than addressing the customer by name. By using “Dear Mr/Ms/Mrs” or “To : Recipient” customers won’t care much about what you have to say anymore because you’re showing that YOU don’t care either.

Say What? – Testimonials are a very good way to help your customers establish your credibility as an individual or a company. Quoting happy customers, (especially more well-known ones) can certainly help your reputation. But like everything else, do it in moderation as having too many quotes in a sales letter will look spammy and you may very well be labeled a liar. Have your contact details such as e-mail or phone number readily available in the sales letter in case the customer has any inquiries and such. You’ll earn more of their trust that way too. (but don’t forget to reply to them though!)

So Pretty – Most human beings are very visual. So it’s not all what you write down in the sales letter, for the most part, HOW you write it may be equally important. Proper use of fonts styles, font sizes, pictures placement, colours and everything that has got to with design should also be a priority. And try not to use too much abbreviations or jargons most people won’t understand. Getting someone to read your sales letter is one thing, getting someone to make sense of reading a confusing sales letter, and that’s pushing your luck.

Bang for your Buck – Bonuses and incentives are a major customer magnet. List down exactly on what you are offering, may it be a complimentary item or a discount, these things are a definite crowd-pleaser and often a deal sealer. (Who doesn’t like free stuff right?)

The term “work at home” used to be viewed as a fantasy because let’s face it; it’s just TOO GOOD to be true.

OR IS IT?

Well, thanks in large, to this current time and age, it is not only what daydreams are made of anymore. Is in FACT, a possible REALITY. (Or a profitable reality I might add ) . What I’m saying here it’s more than possible now to have a work from home job and many people are doing it right now as we speak. But you need to realize that success just doesn’t come simply because you wish it. There are many things going on backstage, behind the drawn curtains. To narrow down your potential your list of potential candidates, try to find the ones who have already achieved the level of success that you desire and approach them.

3. Education – Just because you’ve finished school you think you don’t have to learn anymore? Education is a life-long process of pursuing knowledge and if you would like to have a work at home business you definitely have to do your home work beforehand.

Try to educate yourself on every aspect of working from home. This includes marketing, traffic generation, and anything else related to help you make a successful and most profitable work at home business.

4. Friend on Forums – Getting yourself associated with people who are doing the same thing as you is always a good idea. This can be most beneficial to your cause as you’ll learn a lot from these people as you have a place to converge and exchange questions, information and ideas.

5. Business IS Business – A lot of people make the mistake of taking the work-at-home online business too lightly. They treat it just like a hobby and in the end they get results which are not satisfactory at all and then they decide it’s not worth it at all and eventually call it quits.
